Exhibition | Under The Sky |
Welcome to Under the Sky, an exhibition that celebrates the beauty and boundless inspiration that nature can bring. This exhibition features a diverse collection of artworks that express the artists' deep appreciation for the natural world. Drawing inspiration from renowned American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, who eloquently described the music of the wind through rustling leaves and wispy breezes, these works evoke the sensations and feelings unique to each artist's interpretation of nature. Through various forms of expression, Under the Sky showcases how artists capture the essence of the world around us in their own unique ways. Join us for a journey into the depths of nature through the eyes and imaginations of these talented creators.
I hear the wind among the trees
Playing celestial symphonies;
I see the branches downward bent,
Like keys of some great instrument.
And over me unrolls on high
The splendid scenery of the sky

Artist Statement: I draw inspiration from nature, animals, and lifes beauty and challenges for my prints.
My retirement from my nursing career gave me time to do some serious work on regaining my health and stir up some courage to start doing art full time. My studio is situated by water, forest and a bird sanctuary and the surroundings influence my prints. I have been an outdoor enthusiast all my life, and the majority of my art reflects my love of all creatures, big and small. By surrounding myself in natures beauty, I am inspired to create playful images; my prints are not realistic or “photo” like.
Now that I am able to dedicate much of time to printmaking, I spend my days in the studio with my dog Phoebe, my self-declared assistant. With her company, I dedicate many hours to creating prints that represent mother natures beautiful creations and bits and pieces of life challenges and triumphs.

Artist Statement: I am a primarily self-taught photographer who migrated from film to digital photography about fifteen years ago. Since retiring I have actively explored the technical and creative sides of this media.
I am attracted to a wide variety of subjects ranging from natural landscapes, botanicals and wildlife to images that provide either abstract expression or social commentary. I am interested in sharing images that evoke a story of some kind. Images may be simply documentary, reflect a sense of time and place, or resonate on a more abstract level of color, shape or form. Others provoke an indefinable question that does not readily yield answers without further study and reflection. . Most recently I have begun exploring digital collages as a means of expression.
I have exhibited widely and have earned recognition in local, regional, and national exhibitions. My photographs are also included in several corporate and private collections.

Artist Statement: I aimed to capture the essence of the tranquility and beauty of a sunset in a digital format. This piece was inspired by the vibrant colors and radiance emitted during a sunset, which I sought to showcase through a crystal-like magnifying effect.
