- La Chigi -

La Chigi is an Italian visual artist based in Trento, Italy. She utilises unconventional materials and found objects to explore themes of home, as a physical space and a place of the soul, and of the relationships between its inhabitants.

In the resulting three-dimensional installations, La Chigi distills complex feelings into small, ironic, and apparently lighthearted skits.

Artist Statement

I use materials borrowed from reality, playfully reversing their traditional use. What is usually thrown away is for me an opportunity for art and an ecological and polemical choice towards society, in search of new authenticity and a new way of narrating the present and meeting others.

I am currently exploring the language and theme of the house, a physical place and space of the soul with ready-made installations and objects, and the relationships with and between its inhabitants.

Food containers or boxes have become dwellings and scenarios for miniature people who are thus able to recount, with out-of-scale objects and through symbols and metaphors, the dreams, desires, expectations - and problems - of the whole of humanity.
